Bakersfield, CA - The Citrus College Women's Basketball team continued their recent trend of getting out quick and putting things in cruise control. The Owls were the runaways on Saturday night at Bakersfield College, opening up a 26 points lead in the first quarter on their way to a 94-61 victory.

The Owls put together what was arguably their strongest shooting performance to date. Citrus hit 51.3% of their total shots from the floor and 43.5% from beyond the 3-point arc. The only place Citrus did struggle shooting the ball was at the charity stripe where they shot 54.5%, something that didn't ultimately end up mattering.

Citrus started out the first quarter with that 26 point advantage taking a 36-10 lead. The Owls slowed down in the second quarter, getting outscored 17-11, but they picked it up in the third quarter with a 27-24 quarter, before outscoring the Renegades by 10 (20-10) in the fourth.

Sophomore Janae Chamois had a team best 20 points for the Owls, while handing out a team high seven assists. Sophomore Natalie Gutierrez added 18, while freshman Joy Adlao had 14 off the bench.

With the win, Citrus improves to 13-8 overall and 6-2 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back at home on Wednesday when they host Antelope Valley College for a conference tilt at 5:00 PM.
