Glendale, CA - After back to back games in which the Citrus College Women's Basketball team struggled to find any offensive rhythm, the Owls bounced back in a big way on Wednesday night when they travelled to Glendale College. The Owls hit the century mark for the first time this season, as they shot 50.7% from the floor and had six players finish with double digit scoring nights, in a 103-63 victory over the host Vaqueros.

The game was close throughout the first quarter with Glendale even holding on to a brief 6-4 lead with 7:38 left in the first quarter. Citrus would go on to score the next four points to regain the lead, but the Vaqueros never let the Owls put any distance between the two of them. Citrus would lead by as much as six points twice in that first frame, but by quarters end, the Owls led by just one 21-20.

Citrus was finally able to begin pulling away a few minutes into the second quarter when they embarked on a 7-0 run with a pair of free-throws from sophomore Elsie Mejia, a three-point play by sophomore Natalie Gutierrez, and a jumper by freshman Marisol Chavez-Delgado that made it an eight point lead for Citrus.

Glendale would break up the run with a jumper, but two more free-throws by Gutierrez, and a three pointer by freshman Joy Adlao pushed the Owls' lead to double digits for the first time. The Vaqueros would rally with back to back baskets, but Citrus retaliated with back to back triples off the hands of Adlao and Gutierrez and the Owls lead was back to double digits for good.

At halftime, Citrus would lead 49-34, and the Owls only did further damage in the second half. Through three, the Owls took an 80-48 advantage, and then pushed their lead to a game high of 44 points late in the fourth, before settling in for the 40 point victory.

In the win, sophomore Allison Zalin led the way with a team high 14 points and a game high 11 rebounds. She also added four steals and three blocks for good measure. Sophomore Elsie Mejia had 12 points, as did sophomore Tiffany Villaruz. Adlao added 11, while Gutierrez and Chavez-Delgado each had 10.

With the win, Citrus improves to 16-10 overall and 9-4 in WSC South play. The Owls will close out their regular season on Saturday when they travel to West Los Angeles College for a 3:00 PM showdown with the Wildcats.
