Women's Basketball Starts the 2017 Season With Moxy

Citrus College Women's Basketball is 5-2 after the first 3 weeks of the preseason. Considering last year's team ended the season with just 7 wins, 2nd year Head Coach Linnae Barber Matthews is undoubtedly starting to see the fruits of her labor in the practice gym and on the recruiting trail. 

Aside from its most recent win at San Bernardino Valley on the 21st, all of the Owls' games have been at tournaments so far this season. In their first tournament, the Linda G. Smith Memorial Kickoff at Mt. San Antonio, Citrus narrowly topped Saddleback (ranked #10 in the South at the time)in the consolation finals, capturing 3rd place in the tournament and building momentum in the infancy of their season. 

That momentum would transform into confidence, and next into wins, as the Owls would go on to win their last 3 of 4 games. Perhaps most notable was in the Pasadena City College Roundball Classic where the team once again nabbed up the consolation title, this time in a blowout of LA Pierce. 

Citrus still has 11 more games in the preseason, and is slated to open conference play at home on January 13th versus LA Valley. The Fighting Owls will lace them up next on Friday as they take on Grossmont College at the Cypress College Lady Charger Classic. Tip off is at 2:00 PM.
