It came down to the wire, but Citrus College grabbed its second win in a row with a 49-46 victory over El Camino College to open the ECC Crossover.

The Owls improve to 2-2 on the year, while the Warriors slip to 1-2 overall.

Two Owls finished the night in double figures, led by Giselle Garcia-Nunez with 22 points (9-for-16). Reanne Reola was just one point behind her teammate, posting a career-high 21 points.

Citrus dominated the glass 46-to-34 with both Garcia-Nunez and Cayla Williams finishing with 12 rebounds. Reola chipped in seven boards and added a team-high three steals.

The Owls held a 30-15 lead at halftime, but the Warriors came storming back in the third to make it a game. ECC outscored Citrus 20-4 to jump in front 35-34 heading into the final quarter.

After the Warriors took a six-point lead, Citrus went on a 10-0 run to shift the momentum back in favor of the Owls. Garcia-Nunez sparked the run with a jump shot before Reola banked in a jumper of her own to cap the run.

With 90 seconds left in the game, Reola came up big from deep, rattling in a triple off a Garcia-Nunez assist to put the Owls in front by five.

The Warriors got a stop and made a layup with three seconds remaining to pull within a possession. ECC fouled to try to get another chance at the ball, but Garcia-Nunez sealed the 49-46 victory at the line.

Citrus continues the ECC Crossover on Wednesday, taking on Irvine Valley College at 5 p.m.
