Citrus College battled but couldn't overcome a late surge from Palomar College in a 79-62 loss Saturday evening at the 40th Annual Charger Classic, hosted by Cypress College.
The Owls slip to 5-3 overall, while the Comets remain undefeated at 8-0 on the year.
Jolleen Olia was the lone Owl in double figures, finishing with 21 points (6-for-18). Deija Mitchell was just on the cusp with nine points (4-for-7), while Sammy Martinez chipped in eight points (3-for-4).
Kristin Morella, Mitchell and Martinez each posted five boards for the Owls, while Morella also had three steals in the game.
The Owls take on East Los Angeles on Sunday at 3 p.m. for third place in the tournament, hoping to avenge their first loss of the year.
