Citrus College opened the PCC-Grand Canyon Crossover Tournament, hosted by Pasadena City College, Friday afternoon with a 59-50 victory over Shasta College.
The Owls – who rank 15th in the CCCWBCA South Region and are receiving votes in the State Poll – improve to 7-3 on the year, while the Knights drop to 7-5 overall.
As a team, Citrus shot 42.4-percent from the floor, while holding Shasta to a 27.7 field goal percentage, including just 10-percent from distance (1-for-10).
Three Owls finished the game in double figures with Jolleen Olia leading the trio with 18 points (8-for-18). Kristin Morella followed with 13 points (6-for-10), while Gabby Valdez chipped in 10 points (4-for-6).
Sammy Martinez came up big off the glass with 12 rebounds, while Olia grabbed seven boards and Liz Camargo added six rebounds.
Citrus has a quick turnaround, taking on Merritt College on Saturday at 11 a.m. to close out the PCC tournament.
