Four Owls Earn All-WSC Honors

Four Owls Earn All-WSC Honors

After finishing second in the Western State Conference-South standings and qualifying for the 3C2A SoCal Regional for the first time in five years, four Owls earned postseason honors.

Jolleen Olia led the group as the Co-Most Outstanding Player of the Year – with Antelope Valley College's Cierre Steemer – while Kristin Morella and Sammy Martinez picked up all-conference first-team honors and Leilani Argueta earned honorable mention.

Olia has already left her stamp on the Citrus record book after breaking the single-season points record earlier this year. The freshman has 601 points so far this year, averaging 21.5 points per game (ninth most in the 3C2A). She has scored in double figures in all but one game, including three games where Olia has scored 30 or more points. Olia also boasts the best free throw percentage in the State (90.6 percent).

Morella is second on the team with 11.3 points per game, which ranks 13th in the conference. She has scored in double figures 14 times so far, including a 30-point output in Citrus' 73-71 victory over then-ranked No. 12 East LA.

Martinez has been a big presence for the Owls, averaging 10.1 rebounds per game, which ranks fifth in the conference. The freshman center has three double-doubles this year and posted a career-high 18 rebounds twice – which ranks 10th all-time. She has 282 total rebounds so far, which sits fourth in the program's single-season record book.

Argueta enters the postseason averaging 5.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. She has scored in double digits three times so far, including a career-best 17 points in an 82-75 win over AVC earlier this year.

The Owls host Riverside City College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for the first round of the 3C2A SoCal Regional.
