The Citrus College Women's Basketball team picked up a dominant 85-50 win over Rio Hondo College last Friday night, November 15th.
Citrus College improves to 2-1 on the season while Rio Hondo goes to 2-4 on the year.
The Owls came out firing in the first quarter as they outscored the Roadrunners 24-8. In the second quarter Citrus extended their lead with multiple scoring runs, taking a 45-20 lead into halftime.
In the second half the Owls played composedly while increasing their lead, which at one point was 40 points. Citrus' defense held Rio Hondo to 33.9% from the field and 16.7% from three-point range while forcing 26 turnovers, scoring 27 points off those turnovers.
The Owls were led by Jolleen Olia who recorded a game-high 25 points and added six rebounds, four steals and two assists. Elizabeth Camargo added 15 points off the bench while Samantha Martinez recorded their first double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Deija Mitchell, Kaylana Viray, Silvia Garcia, Elizabeth Camargo, and Breanna Escobedo all recorded multiple steals in the win.
Citrus College will play their next game on the road at El Camino College this Wednesday, November 20th at 5 p.m.
