The Citrus College Women's Basketball team defeated Bakersfield College 53-43 last night, in Bakersfield, to pick up their fourth conference win of the season.
Citrus College improves to 13-6 overall on the season and 4-1 in conference games. Bakersfield College goes to 5-14 overall on the year and 1-4 in conference.
After only scoring four points in the first quarter, going down 8-4, the Owls outscored the Renegades in the second quarter 21-7 to take a 25-15 lead into halftime. Citrus held on to secure the win after shooting 36% from the field and hitting 6-of-21 three-pointers while holding Bakersfield to 30.2% from the field and forcing 27 turnovers.
The Owls were led Jolleen Olia who scored 15 points with seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals. Kristin Morella came off the bench to score 12 points and added two steals. Maileeh Suasti scored 11 points with six rebounds, a game-high three blocks and two steals. Leilani Argueta had 10 points, four rebounds and two steals.
Citrus College will return home to host West LA College this Saturday, January 25th at 1 p.m.
