Second Half Surge Not Enough for Owls

Citrus College Women's Basketball fell to West LA College 60-57 last night in a game that came down to the final seconds.
Citrus College goes to 17-10 overall on the season and 8-5 in conference games, while West LA College moves to 17-10 overall and 9-4 in conference games.
The Owls went down 30-17 at halftime but surged back in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 40-30, nearly completing the comeback.
Citrus shot 32.3% from the field and knocked down 6-of-28 from beyond the arc while also outrebounding West LA 49-34. The Owls turned the ball over 27 times, which led to the Wildcats scoring eight more points off turnovers (22-16). Although it was not the result the Owls hoped for, they battled back from being down by 20 points in the third quarter to nearly steal the win.
Jolleen Olia led the Owls with 18 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist. Breanna Escobedo scored 13 points with seven assists, seven rebounds four steals, and one block. Kristin Morella had 13 points with three assists, one rebound and one steal. Maileeh Suasti led the Owls with 11 rebounds and added six points, three steals and one assist. Deija Mitchell had a team-high five steals and added three rebounds and two assists.
Citrus College will host Glendale College on Sophomore Night, their final home conference game of the season tomorrow, Friday, February 21st at 5 p.m.
