Bakersfield, CA -- No matter how you slice it, the long trip up the 5 Freeway to the 99 is always a tough one for any team in the Western State Conference South Division. That was especially true for the Citrus College Women's Soccer team on Tuesday afternoon as they escaped their trip to Bakersfield College with a 1-0 victory.

Citrus' explosive offense was nowhere to be found on Tuesday as the Renegades held Citrus to just 12 total shots five in the first and seven in the second. Meanwhile, Bakersfield went head to head with the Owls taking eight shots in the match, four in each half.

The Owls would be held scoreless in the first half, before sophomore Jasmine Williams came through in the second. Williams notched her 15th goal of the year in the 61st minute in what would prove to be the game winner. Luckily for Citrus that's all the Owls would need as their defense held strong. Freshman goal keeper Dominique Oro recorded eight saves in the win and notched her third shutout of the year.

With the win, Citrus improves to 14-1-2 on the year and 10-1 in Western State Conference South Division play. The Owls' week doesn't get any easier as they are on the road this Friday yet again. Citrus will take on LA Pierce College at LA Pierce with the match set for a 4:00 PM start time.
