Ventura, CA -- With the Citrus College Women's Soccer team making their first ever appearance in the California Community College Athletic Association post-season, the Owls knew they'd have to be on their best game. That wasn't the case though as Citrus came off flat and struggled to defend the corner in route to a 3-1 loss.

The Owls didn't start off so hot as the Pirates proved to be more aggressive team in the first 45 minutes of play. Ventura outshot Citrus 7-1 in the first half, framing two of those shots on goal. One of the shots would result in a goal for the Pirates as they took advantage of Citrus' inability to get back on defense after one of their few first offensive opportunities, as the Owls surrendered a counter attack goal in the 35th minute. Despite Ventura pretty much dominating the offensive ball in the first half, the Owls minimized the damage by going into the break down just 1-0.

In the second half, the Owls got a good look in their first possession, but couldn't come up with anything. Again the Pirates counter attacked and while they didn't score straight away they did draw one of their four second half corner kicks. That's when the Owls began their struggles with the corner. Ventura went up 2-0 after the kick in the 47th minute, putting the Owls into a deeper hole.

Ventura continued with their momentum drawing back to back corners near the 52nd minute. The first corner would be saved by Citrus freshman Dominique Oro, the second though found the back of the net as Citrus was down 3-0.

The Owls continued to struggle to get anything going until really the final ten minutes of the contest. Sophomore Jasmine Williams got the Owls on the board in the 88th minute, and then gave Citrus a great chance again in the stoppage time when she sent a perfect cross down the goal line to sophomore Jade Vehawn. Vehawn reared back and fired, but her shot went directly into the hands of the Ventura keeper sealing the win for the Pirates.

With the loss, Citrus closes out the season at 13-3-3. Despite the first round exit, Citrus has nothing to be ashamed of, as they will still go down in history as the most successful team in program history.
