Walnut, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Soccer team faced a tough opponent on Tuesday evening when they took on local rival Mt. San Antonio College. The Mounties were previously undefeated, but the Owls were able to put a minor blemish on their record with a 1-1 tie.

Mt. SAC came out of the gate as the aggressor Tuesday night, and put the Owls on their heels. Citrus started off tepid, and the Mounties made them pay early on. Mt. SAC drew first blood in the 6th minute and gave themselves a 1-0 lead.

Citrus didn't panic. The Owls actually settled down shortly thereafter, and over the final 20 minutes of the first half, controlled the tempo and flow of the game. Still it wouldn't be until the second half, when the Owls could even up the affair.

A little past the halfway point of the second half, Citrus got their chance. The Owls earned a free kick deep in Mt. SAC territory. Head Coach Tim Tracey sent freshman Jessie Gener to attack the ball. Gener did just that sending a booming kick from 30 yards out that passed the Mounties keeper and knotted the game up at one goal a piece.

That's where the game would end, as the battle of San Gabriel Valley schools was left without a decision. With the tie, Citrus improves to 1-1-2 on the year. The Owls will open up their 2013 home slate this Thursday when they host Oxnard College for a 6:00 PM tilt in Citrus Stadium.
