Bakersfield, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Soccer team faced their toughest early conference season test on Friday afternoon when they headed up the 5 freeway to the 99 to take on Bakersfield College. The Owls, who seem to have recently found their offensive mojo, kept on trucking as they came back home with a 4-2 win.

Things didn't start off so well for Citrus, as the Renegades put up an early 2-0 lead on the Owls. Bakersfield scored in both the 5th and 22nd minutes to grab that early advantage. Citrus didn't panic though, and began to slowly pull things back together shortly after that second score.

The first goal for Citrus came in the 24th minute when sophomore Sheyla Sanchez got credit for a score after her last touch led to an own goal by the Renegades. With momentum shifting, Citrus tied things up in the 27th minute when freshman Cindy Ramirez grabbed her fourth goal in the last two games off an assist from freshman Daniella Flores.

Just before the half, the Owls would grab their first lead when freshman Rebekah Evans struck thanks to an assist from Ramirez. In the second half, Citrus quickly gave themselves even more breathing room, when Evans scored her second of the game. Freshman Kacie Licata assisted on the final goal of the day, which ended up being the third straight game in which both Licata has recorded an assist, and Evans has scored.

With the win, Citrus improves to 5-3-3 overall and 3-0-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will hit the road to take on a tough Antelope Valley College team on Tuesday, with the match set for a 4:00 PM start in Lancaster.
