Owls Notch Big Road Win; Move Into Tie For First

Glendale, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Soccer team picked up a big road win on Friday evening 3-2 at Glendale College. The win, pulled the Owls even with College of the Canyons for first place in the Western State Conference South Division, with six games to go.

Citrus commanding the pace of the game on Friday, holding Glendale to zero shots on goal in the first half, and just three total in the second half. Granted two of those three shots in the second found the back of the net, late in the contest, but the Owls did enough early to hold off the late Vaquero advances.

Citrus' first goal came in the 22nd minute when freshman Rebekah Evans took a pass from freshman Alice Ayala-Cruz to make it 1-0. Freshman Chelsie Kent would add another before the half, as she scored off an assist from freshman Cindy Ramirez in the 40th minute. The Owls made it a comfortable 3-0 lead early in the second half when freshman Kacie Licata scored unassisted in the 51st minute.

Late in the game, Glendale made a charge at the Owls scoring twice in a span of six minutes. The Owls clamped back down in the final seven minutes of regulation though and held on for the victory.

With the win, Citrus improves to 8-3-4 overall and 6-0-2 in WSC South play. The Owls will be on the road again this Tuesday for a tough conference match-up with Santa Monica College in Santa Monica. First touch is set for 1:00 PM.
