Glendora, CA -- Sophomore Valerie Flores scored a pair of goals and freshman Kacie Licata notched a pair of assists, breaking the program record for assists in a season, on Friday afternoon in Citrus' 3-0 win over visiting Antelope Valley College.

It didn't take long for the Owls to get on the board when Licata found Flores in the box in the 4th minute. Flores took the ball and slotted it in the upper right hand corner from seven yards away to make it 1-0.

The Citrus offense continued to pressure the Marauder defense, eventually finding a crack in the 37th minute. Licata got the ball around midfield with most of the Antelope defense already behind her. Licata dribbled for about 10 yards and then delivered the ball on a dime to Evans who beat the last two defenders. With just the keeper to beat, Evans drew her out of the box, cut off her best angle and sent a slow roller to the left corner of the goal that easily scored.

The Owls would score their final goal of the day late in the contest. In the 80th minute Flores got another opportunity, this time receiving a pass from sophomore Jordyn Haynes. Flores made the best of the opportunity, putting it in the goal and giving Citrus their third score of the day.

With the win, Citrus improves to 11-4-4 on the year and 9-1-2 in conference play. The Owls will be on the road this Tuesday for their most important contest of the year. Citrus take on College of the Canyons at 7:00 PM in Santa Clarita with the WSC South title on the line. The winner will be in the driver's seat for the conference crown with one regular season game to go.
