Santa Clarita, CA -- For the second straight year a late season match-up with College of the Canyons determined the Western State Conference South Division Championship. The Citrus College Women's Soccer team had been here before, and were left with the same feeling as the Cougars handed the Owls a 3-1 loss to claim their third straight conference title

Citrus kept it close for the first half of the match, nearly matching the Cougars' five shots with four. Canyons scored first on the night scoring on a cross in the 40th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Owls wouldn't answer until early in the second half, when freshman Rebekah Evans took a pass from sophomore Kacie Licata and slotted the ball in the bottom right hand corner of the net.

That would be the highlight of the night for the Owls as Canyons shut them down for the remainder of the contest. Citrus was held to just five shots in the second half, while the Cougars took 11. Two of those 11 resulted in goals for Canyons as they took a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute and then a insourmountable 3-1 lead in the 73rd minute.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 11-5-4 on the year and 9-2-2 in WSC South play. The Owls will close out the regular season on Friday when they host West Los Angeles College. That match is set for a 2:00 PM start.
