San Diego, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Soccer team headed into Saturday afternoon's California Community College Athletic Association Playoff match-up with San Diego Miramar with some optimism. Unfortunately for the Owls, things didn't go their way as they wheels came off for Citrus, and when they did, they did so in a bad way, as they fell to the host Jest 6-0.

Citrus woes started early on Saturday as they gave up a goal less than two minutes into the contest. A defensive miscommunication led the Miramar getting the ball in the Citrus box with no one between them and the goal. Trailing 0-1, the Owls tried to clamp down, but the Owls stepped on their own feet again when they gave up an own goal in the 27th minute. Miramar continued to build from there, taking a commanding lead in the 32nd minute with a goal, finally of their own accord to go up 3-0.

In the second half, Citrus began to show some signs of life offensively, but still struggled against a stout Miramar squad. While the Owls began to move bodies forward, Miramar bided it's time and pounced at the right moments. Miramar scored three more goals in the second half, in the 78th, 81st, and 87th minutes, sending the Owls home after one round of playoffs.

With the loss, Citrus season ends with a 12-6-4 mark. Despite the disappointing finish, the Owls still had another impressive season, finishing with the second most wins in a season in program history, and qualifying for the post-season for just the second time in program history.
