Nine Owls Named All-Conference

Glendora, CA -- The 2013 Western State Conference South Division All-Conference team was announced recently, and the Citrus College Owls had nine individuals listed. Four were named 1st team selections, three 2nd team, and another two to the Honorable Mention.

All four of Citrus' first team members are freshman, boding well for next year's squad. Forward Rebekah Evans, defender Jessie Gener, midfielder Cindy Ramirez, and forward Kacie Licata were all named 1st teamers. 

Evans scored 12 goals on the season, the third most in program history. She also added five assists, for a total of 29 points also the third best mark in program history. Licata also left her mark on the Owls record books with a program record 13 assists. She also added six goals for a total of 25 points, now the sixth most in program history.

Ramirez  had second most goals for Citrus in 2013 with eight and the second most assists with six to finish with a total of 22 points. Gener was a starter for the Owls on the defense this past year, but did manage three goals, specializing in free kicks for Citrus.

On the second team were sophomore midfielder Leandra Escobar along with freshman defender Chelsie Kent and freshman midfielder Natalia Ponce. Escobar wrapped up an impressive two year career by starting in all 22 games for the Owls, slotting four goals and adding an assist in 2013. It was her second straight All-WSC 2nd team nod. Ponce appeared in all 22 games with 20 starts, scoring once and having a hand in three assists. Kent started in all 21 games in which she appeared recording a goal and an assist.

Rounding out the honors were sophomore keeper Leslie Grande and sophomore defender Jessica Tullius. Grande recorded a 1.29 goals against average and had 63 saves on the year. Tullius meanwhile appeared in all 22 contests this past year, with 21 starts, recording an assist.
