Oxnard, CA — The Citrus College Women's Soccer program opened up their 2014 campaign in familiar territory on Friday afternoon. Not only did the Owls open up their season at the Oxnard Sea Breeze Tournament for the umpteenth time, but the ended up on the right side of the scoreboard with a 3-1 victory over the tournaments host, Oxnard College.

The Owls wasted little time in getting to the point on Friday, when returning leading scorer Rebekah Evans picked up where she left off last season with a goal just three minutes into the contest. A little over ten minutes later Evans found the back of the net again, this time via a header. Freshman Berlyn Pedroza got in on the act midway through the first half, scoring her first career collegiate goal, with a strike in the 29th minute to put Citrus up comfortably 3-0.

The Condors would take advantage of some Citrus miscues late in the first half, scoring in the 33rd minute, but the Owls mostly dominated play, taking 15 shots, to Oxnard's three.

With the win, Citrus improves to 1-0 early on. The Owls will remain in Oxnard until Sunday when they will take on the winner of tomorrow's meeting between Lassen College and College of the Sequoias at 10:00 AM.
