Glendora, CA -- For much of the Citrus College Women's Soccer contest with visiting Los Angeles Pierce College on Tuesday night the Owls dominated the ball. Citrus outshot the Brahmas 16-8 and earned six corners to Pierce's two. Still, the Owls struggled to put the ball on frame, and thus had very few scoring chances as they were blanked in a 1-0 loss.

The first half was tight between the Owls and the Brahmas with Citrus taking five shots and Pierce six. Of those shots though, five of the six were on frame, including a goal in the 29th minute. For the Owls, none found the frame. That's not to say Citrus didn't have its opportunities.

Arguably the best of the game came in stoppage time in the first half when a beautiful ball sent to the back right post by sophomore Amber Mace found the head of sophomore Natalia Ponce and then the back of the net. Citrus' celebration was cut short though as the play was whistled a close offsides.

In the second half, Citrus dominated possession, taking 11 of the 13 shots in the final 45 minutes, but again struggled to put them on frame, as only three made it around the net. Of the three, all were saved as Citrus was shutout for the first time all season long.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 3-4 on the year. The Owls will be back out on the pitch on Tuesday when they take on West Los Angeles College in their WSC South opener at 2:00 PM.
