Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Soccer team got a confidence booster on Tuesday afternoon when they played host to a good Los Angeles Valley College squad. The Owls controlled most of the tempo of the match and scored a 2-0 victory, running their current point streak to four.
It took the Owls a little while to get going on Tuesday, but once they did, things quickly snowballed their way. The ball changed hands a few times through the first 20 minutes, before Citrus went on a tear that saw them outshoot Valley 10-2 in the first half alone. All those shots didn't result in much though until the final seconds of the first half when sophomore Rebekah Evans squeaked one past the keeper off a pass from sophomore Jessie Gener in first half stoppage time.
Citrus continued to attack in the second half, outshooting the Monarchs 7-2. Evans would put the icing on the cake in the 84th minute take a pair of passes from sophomores Natalia Ponce and Cindy Ramirez before beating the keeper one on one to make it 2-0.
With the win, Citrus improves to 11-6-1 on the year and 8-2-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will be on the road this coming Friday when they head North to Bakersfield College for a 3:00 PM showdown with the Renegades.
