Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Soccer team gave up a goal in the 71st minute of Friday's contest against Santa Monica College. Luckily for the Owls, they answered quickly just a little more than two minutes later, as they tied the Corsairs 1-1.

The contest would prove to be an even affair with neither team really threatening in the first 45 minutes. Santa Monica took just one shot in the first half, their lone strike off frame, while the Owls took just two, putting one on goal. Where Citrus did dominate in that first 45 minutes, was on corners, out-earning the Corsairs 4-1, none of which mattered as each team entered the break tied at zero.

In the second half, both teams picked up the offensive pace with each team firing off four shots a piece. The Corsairs obviously struck first, scoring on an unassisted shot in the 71st minute briefly giving Santa Monica a 1-0 lead. Citrus answered rather quickly, when freshman Zariah Silva scored an unassisted goal of her own in the 73rd minute put the scoreboard at 1-1, where it would stay for the remainder of the contest.

The tie would be the first of the season for the Owls, as they moved to 10-6-1 overall and 7-2-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will return back home on Tuesday when they host LA Valley College for a 1:00 PM showdown.0020
