Owls Sneak One Out at Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Soccer team made the long trek up the 5 Freeway to the 99  Freeway to take on Bakersfield College. The Owls snuck out a win with a 2-1 victory over the host Renegades.

The Owls started well enough out of the gate taking eight shots to Bakersfield's three. The Owls got on the board first when freshman Zariah Silva scored her second of the season off a pass from sophomore Natalia Ponce. Bakersfield had a relatively quick answer though as they tied it back up in the 29th minute.

In the second half, Bakersfield flipped the switch on the Owls taking seven shots to Bakersfield's three. Luckily for the Owls, sophomore keeper Amanda Garvin put together one of her best performances of the season, coming up with six of her season high eight saves in the final 45 minutes. Citrus' got the game winner in the 52nd minute when sophomore Rebekah Evans took a pass from sophomore Cindy Ramirez for her 11th of the year.

With the win, Citrus improves to 12-6-1 overall and 9-2-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will be on the road on Tuesday when they travel Antelope Valley College for a 3:00 PM kick-off.
