Lancaster, CA -- Though the chances are slim, the Citrus College Women's Soccer team stayed in the Western State Conference South Division hunt on Tuesday afternoon with a 2-0 win at Antelope Valley College. The win makes Friday's game against visiting College of the Canyons one of two conference deciding contests on the final day of competition.

Citrus wouldn't get much going offensively on Tuesday until after the half. After missing a few opportunities through the first 45 minutes, the Owls finally broke through in the 50th minute when sophomore Cindy Ramirez scored off a pass from sophomore Natalia Ponce. 11 minutes later, Citrus made things a little easier on themselves, when they drew a penalty kick, and had Ramirez bury it to make it 2-0. In the win, sophomore keeper Amanda Garvin had three saves and recorded her fifth shutout of the season.

With the win, Citrus improves to 13-6-1 overall and 10-2-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will host the Cougars in that fateful showdown this Friday at 3:00 PM in Citrus College Stadium.
