Seven Owls On All-WSC South Team

Glendora, CA -- The 2014 All-Western State Conference South Division Women's Soccer awards were announced recently, and Citrus College had seven athletes named to the list. Sophomores Cindy Ramirez, Natalia Ponce, and Rebekah Evans were all first team selections, while freshmen Joni Gener and Zariah Silva were awarded second team honors. Sophomore Jessie Gener and freshman Brittney Frias rounded out the superlatives with Honorable Mention nods.

Ramirez had a banner year for the Owls in 2014, recording 44 points, on a team leading 14 goals and a team best 16 assists. Ponce was third on the team in total points with nine, handing out seven assists, the second best mark on the squad, to go along with a goal. Evans was the team's second leading scorer notching 25 points with 11 goals and three assists. All three appeared in and started all 21 of Citrus' contests.  

 Joni Gener appeared in 20 games, all starts, while locking down the middle of the last line of defense. Silva became a revelation late in the year, becoming a threat from the midfield, recording two goals and two assists.

Jessie Gener along with Frias joined up with Joni Gener to make up 3/4ths of the Owls' defensive back line. Jessie appeared in and started 19 games recording a goal and an assist. Frias started all 21 games for Citrus.
