Glendora, CA -- Citrus College sophomore women's soccer player Rebekah Evans won't be moving far as she continues her education and collegiate soccer career. Evans has accepted a scholarship off from NCAA Division II Azusa Pacific University, which sits next door to Citrus College, and will be suiting up for the Cougars in the Fall of 2015.

"I've wanted to go there [Azusa Pacific] since I was in 8th Grade. I've felt for a long time that it was the place that God was calling me too," Evans said. "It's just icing on the cake that I get to play soccer there. The team and coaching staff has been great, and it's a dream come true."

Evans spent three years at Citrus College, using a medical red-shirt season as a freshman before putting together a pair of impressive campaigns in 2013 and 2014. As a freshman, Evans scored 12 goals and handed out five assists for 29 points. She followed that up with 11 goals and three assists for a total of 25 points as a sophomore, earning 1st team All-Western State Conference South Division honors in both of her seasons. For her career, Evans tallied 23 goals, eight assists and 54 points. She closed out her career with the third most points in program history, and second most goals in program history.

"After tearing my ACL in my first year, I thought my career was over. Coach Tim [Tracey] and Brian [Dorman] were the ones to push me to become who I never thought I could be. Once I was able to move past the injury and get a positive mentality, it all changed. It helped me get to this point, where I'm going to be pursuing my dreams."

"Rebekah was a student-athlete that battled through adversity during her time at Citrus College and came out on top," said Citrus College Head Coach Tim Tracey. "Her tenacity and passion for the game will continue to make her successful as she transitions to the next level."
