Sophomore Savanna Lujan scored her third goal of the season and saved the day for the Owls in their 1-1 tie against College of the Canyons on Friday.

Santa Clarita, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Soccer program hit the road on Friday afternoon with a tall task awaiting them in the form of first place College of the Canyons. The Cougars had already defeated the Owls in Citrus' home stadium earlier in the year, when Citrus gave up a 1-0 lead and three second half goals. While the Owls didn't come away with a win on Friday, they did come away with some nearly as good in the soccer world, a 1-1 tie.

The first half was tight, with Canyons edging Citrus in total number of shots 8-5, but neither finding the back of the net. That changed less than 10 minutes into the second half when Canyons' Amanda Balzer squeaked one past freshman keeper Amber Henry to make it 1-0.

The Cougars kept applying pressure in the second half outshooting the Owls 13-4. Citrus did just enough though as they tied the game up via an unassisted goal from sophomore Savanna Lujan in the 77th minute that made it 1-1. Henry would finish with six saves as the Owls improved to 5-4-4 and 3-1-3 in WSC play.

Citrus will be back at home this Tuesday when they host West Los Angeles College at 4:00 PM.
