Owls Roll Continues With Win at Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA - The Citrus College Women's Soccer team hit the road on Wednesday afternoon for their second game in as many days. The Owls' current roll continued as they defeated the host Renegades 2-0.

The Owls came out of the gate strong matching the Renegades shot for shot as each team took four in the opening frame. Citrus was the only one to land one on goal though as sophomore Alyssa Selio made it 1-0 with an unassisted strike in the 36th minute. 

In the second half, Bakersfield took control and kept a weary Owls on their heals. Still the defense held strong and in particular freshman keeper Amber Henry who had nine total saves and recorded her fourth shutout of the season in the process. Despite not having the same opportunities as they did in the first, Citrus made of the few they did have. Freshman Jaline Miranda scored in her second straight game putting the game out of reach for Bakersfield with a goal in the 70th minute.

With the win, Citrus moved to 7-4-4 overall and 5-1-3 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back at home on Friday when they host Glendale College at 3:00 PM.
