Valley Glen, CA - With what could have arguably been their 2015 campaign on the line, sophomore Ivana Lizama and freshman Nicole Graham came through for the Citrus College Women's Soccer program in a big way. Lizama scored in the 87th minute and Graham in the 89th to give Citrus a 2-2 tie with the Monarchs.
Things got off to a precarious start for Citrus as they gave up an uncharacteristic early goal on Thursday afternoon. The Monarchs took advantage of some smart passing to take a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Citrus would keep Valley off the board until five minutes into the second half when the Monarchs went on top 2-0.
With their backs against the wall, Citrus needed a hail mary and that's exactly what they got in the form of Lizama and Graham's goals. The goals tied the match up and earned valuable power points for Citrus' post-season hopes in the process.
With the tie, Citrus improved to 8-5-5 overall and 6-2-4 in WSC South play. The Owls will be at home for their final two regular season contests of the year next week, starting with a 5:00 PM showdown against Bakersfield College on Tuesday.
