Glendora, CA - Citrus College sophomore Joni Gener became the second Citrus College Women's Soccer player to sign a scholarship offer recently. Gener has signed on with NCAA DII Cal Poly Pomona.

"It's a great program, and I really like the campus,"Gener said of Cal Poly. "I knew I wanted to stay close to home so that my family could still come and support me, and it's providing me that opportunity among many others."

Gener was a two-year stalwart in the back line for the Owls, starting and appearing in 41 of a possible 42 games in that stretch. Gener recorded one career assist, and anchored a defense that posted a total goals against average of 1.09 in her 41 games.

"Citrus has pushed me to continue to play soccer and be my best in doing so," Gener said. "I didn't always want to, but it's reignited my passion, helped me become a better player, and made me into a more calm and versatile player."

"Joni is one the greatest competitors we've ever had in our program," said Citrus College Head Women's Soccer Coach Tim Tracey. "Her drive, tenacity, and leadership abilities will serve her and the Broncos well at Cal Poly."
