Owls Close Out Non-Conference Schedule With Big Win Over Glendale

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women's Soccer team closed out their 2016 non-conference schedule with authority on Friday afternoon when they hosted Glendale College. The Owls dominated the play on the pitch from the jump in a 5-0 victory.

 Freshman Alejandra Vargas started the scoring with a rocket from the top of the box in the 28th minute. Freshman Jacqueline Mejia would tack one on before the end of the first when her shot off a pass from freshman Alexa Ruiz made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute.

Ruiz wasn't done however, as she kick-started the scoring in the second half with a goal in the 63rd minute off an assist by Mejia. Freshman Devyn Bagwell would score her second of the year eight minutes later with freshman Odalis Perez recording the assist. The final score of the game would come in the 82nd minute when sophomore Angie Galvan sent a picture perfect cross off a corner kick to the opposite side of the box where freshman Mary Cordero calmly netted it.

With the win, Citrus improves to 7-5 on the year. The Owls will start conference play on Friday October 14th when they host Bakersfield College inside Citrus College Stadium. The match is set for a 1:00 PM start.
