Owls Rout Bakersfield in WSC East Opener

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women's Soccer team opened up Western State Conference East Division in impressive fashion on Friday afternoon. The Owls routed visiting Bakersfield College 4-0, scoring once in the first half and three more times in the second for the emphatic victory.

 Freshman Jasmine Collier started things off, in the 25th minute when she took a pass from freshman Alejandra Vargas and buried it in the back of the net, for her first strike of the year. The Owls wouldn't get back on the board until the second half, when freshman Devyn Bagwell scored her third of the season in the 53rd minute with freshman Alexa Ruiz notching the assist.

Six minutes later, freshman Yasmine Ramirez would send a corner into the box that would find the feet of sophomore Sydney Lujan amid the chaos of the scrum that ensued to make it 4-0. Freshman Odalis Perez would score the fourth and final goal of the game when sophomore Jaline Miranda sent her own corner in the box that was headed home by Perez in the 81st. 

In goal, sophomore Britni Armas had three saves in the first half, before giving way to sophomore Amber Henry in the second half, who had five saves. With the win, Citrus improves to 8-5 overall and 1-0 in WSC East play. The Owls hit the road on Tuesday afternoon to take on Antelope Valley College. First touch is set for 2:00 PM.
