Bakersfield, CA - With playoff and conference title hopes still alive for the Citrus College Women's Soccer team, the Owls hit the road on Tuesday afternoon, and were sent home with those hopes a little less prevalent than before. Bakersfield controlled the pitch from the jump and the Owls' last ditch effort came up shy in a 2-1 loss to the Renegades.

Bakersfield came out and hit the Owls in the mouth nearly right away, scoring four minutes into the contest. The Owls would be held to six total shots on the afternoon, four in the first half and two in the second.

Of those six, three found the frame including a strike by freshman Jasmine Collier in the 83rd minute off a pass from freshman Jacqueline Mejia to briefly tie the match up at a goal each. Bakersfield responded rather quickly though, scoring five minutes later to go back in front 2-1.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 10-7 overall and 3-2 in WSC East play. The Owls will be back home on Friday when they host Antelope Valley College at 1:00 PM.
