The Women of Citrus Soccer stepped onto the brand new turf field at Citrus Stadium last week, starting off the 2018 campaign. The Owls dropped the match to visiting Ventura 0-2, but started to show signs right away of a much improved roster from the 2017 season.

Citrus then travelled to Ventura this weekend to play two matches, the first vs Cypress on Thursday and the second, a Saturday matchup against Clovis. Cypress entered the match nationally ranked, but that meant little to the Owls as they dispatched the Chargers 3-2, evening up their season record at 1-1 and gaining some collective confidence along the way.

The Owls took a day off and took in the sights and sounds of Ventura, returning too the pitch Saturday and taking care of Clovis 2-0. Returning starting Goalkeeper Olivia Handy has already notched a whopping 16 saves on the year, for an 80% save average. It's still early in the season, but Handy's 16 saves are enough rank her 12th in the state in that category.

The Owls suit up again tomorrow as they travel to Allan Hancock for a 4:00 PM kickoff.
