Citrus Digs Deep to Remain Unbeaten in Conference

No. 19-ranked Citrus College had to dig deep to walk away with 3-3 a tie at Santa Monica Community College Friday.

The Owls, who also rank No. 18 in the CCCSIA rankings, boast a 7-2-2 overall, 3-0-1 Western State Conference mark and is unbeaten in its last seven games. The Corsairs sit 2-5-2, 1-1-1 on the year.

Santa Monica struck first in the 22^nd minute, but Berenice Mancinas responded for the Owls in the 38^th minute off an Elisa Salas assist.

Just a minute before halftime, the Corsairs scored again to hold a 2-1 lead at the break.

Santa Monica put some pressure on the Owls in the second half and increased its lead to 3-1 in the 52^nd minute.

Citrus dug deep and pulled within one in the 69^th minute when Kaylee Sanchez found the back of the net. Ashley Virgen grabbed the equalizer in the 75^th minute to give the Owls a share of the outcome.

The Owls head to the College of the Canyons on Friday, Oct. 15, kicking off at 4:00 p.m.
