Citrus College had to come from behind twice to grab a 2-2 tie with Santa Monica Tuesday afternoon.

The Owls sit 10-4-4 on the year and 5-2-3 in Western State Conference-South action, while the Corsairs move to 3-7-5, 2-3-4.

Santa Monica capitalized first with a goal in the 12th minute to put pressure on Citrus to respond.

Ten minutes before halftime, the Owls were awarded a free kick and Ashley Virgen drove a deep ball to Jade Poveda, who sent it past the Corsair goalkeeper to send the two teams tied 1-1 at halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Owls were pushing but couldn't quite seem to find the back of the net.

Santa Monica found another go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute, but there was still plenty of time left to play.

With just under 10 minutes to go, Abigail Salvador equalized for the Owls. Berenice Mancinas found Salvador making a run to get in behind the Corsair defense with just the goalkeeper to beat. Salvador did just that to even the score, 2-2, before time expired.

The Owls close out the rest of the season at home, hosting College of the Canyons on Tuesday, Nov. 9, and West LA on Friday, Nov. 12.
