Citrus College battled in its season opener but came up just short in a 1-0 loss at Moorpark College on Saturday.
The Fighting Owls open the year at 0-1-0, while the Raiders start 1-0-0.
Citrus had four shots on goal, but just couldn't break through. Megan Sewell put two shots on frame, while Jayme Beatty and Maya Avelar each had a shot on goal.
Maddy Moris finished with a career-high 11 saves in the game, which ranks seventh all-time in a single game for the Owls.
Citrus looks to bounce back at home, hosting Grossmont on Sept. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
