Citrus College battled Antelope Valley College in a high-scoring match but had to settle for a 4-4 draw Tuesday afternoon.

The Owls sit at 5-3-4 on the year and 3-1-3 in Western State Conference action, while the Marauders stand at 9-2-3 overall and 4-0-3 in conference with their third-straight tie.

Dianna Garcia scored one goal and assisted on the three others for Citrus as Emily Cherry, Samantha Casas and Jayme Beatty each found the back of the net.

Garcia got things going with a goal in the 18th minute off an Emily Romero assist. Just before halftime, she found Cherry inside the box to put the Owls up 2-0, but AVC took one back just before the whistle blew to put Citrus up 2-1 at the break.

Casas put the Owls back in front with a goal in the 50th minute, but the Marauders scored back-to-back goals to tie the game.

Beatty gave Citrus the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute, but AVC managed to sneak one in before time expired for the draw.

The Owls take a brief hiatus from conference action, heading to San Diego Mesa on Thursday for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
