Valley Glen, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Swim team had another good outing on Friday afternoon as they participated in the Western State Conference Quad #2 hosted by LA Valley College. The Owls got contributions from all over and had their best head to head showing of the season.

Freshman Olga Quiroz started things off for Citrus by taking 10th in the 50 Free in a time of 30.80, the same exact time she posted a few weeks back at the Mt. SAC Invite. Freshman Kirsten Pampu followed that up by nabbing 5th in the 100 Individual Medley with a time of 1:15.67 which is on pace with the times she's been posting all season long.

In the 100 Fly it was freshman Chelsea Fujita-Haffner who posted a season best time of 1:07.74 and taking second overall in the event. Freshman Gabi Debia improved by over 1.5 seconds in the 100 Free to take 7th overall with a time of 1:04.27.

Freshman Lora Marquez-Salgado was half a season away from a new personal best in the 100 Back. Marquez-Salgado instead finished 5th in a time of 1:12.76. In the 100 Breast it was freshman Kendra New who led the way with a 6th place finish with a time of 1:28.68.

Rounding things out was Citrus' performance in the 200 Free Relay. The Owls improved by over two seconds in the event, as Pampu, Marquez-Salgado, Fujita-Haffner, and freshman Candee Baca combined to finish third with a time of 1:53.71 seconds. The Owls were just out touched by second place LA Valley in the event, finishing less than 2/10ths of a second behind the host Monarchs.

Citrus will try and keep their positive momentum going next weekend when they participate in another WSC Quad, this time hosted by Ventura College and attended by LA Valley and Bakersfield along with the Owls. The meet is scheduled for a 10:00 AM start this coming Saturday.
