Ventura, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Swim team continued their 2013 conference slate last Saturday in the Western State Conference Quad #3 host by Ventura College. The Owls continued to improve as personal bests dropped all over, and Citrus continued to show they are on the rise.

Freshman Kelsey Droegemueller helped set the tone early with a 3rd place finish in the 1000 Frees event, posting a time of 13:17.39, over six seconds faster than her previous best effort in that event. She later teamed up with fellow frosh Gabi Debia to take fifth and fourth place respectively, as Debia shaved over six seconds off her previous best time (6:23.03), and Droegemueller took three-tenths of a second of her personal best (6:30.41).

Freshman Chelsea Fujita-Haffner also continued to shine in the water, placing 5th in the 50 Free with a time two-tenths of a second fast than her previous best (26.89). Later on Fujita-Haffner went on to nab second in the 100 Fly, despite not having her best showing with a time of 1:09.80. Later on in the day, Fujita-Haffner teamed up with fellow freshmen Kirsten Pampu, Marianna Preciado, and Lora Marquez-Salgado to take third in the 200 Free Relay. The four swimmers combined to knock off over a full second off Citrus' previous best mark in that event.

The Owls will be back in the water this coming Friday as they host their first meet of the 2013 season. Citrus will be hosting the WSC Quad #4 along with fellow conference schools Los Angeles Valley College, Ventura College, and Bakersfield College. The meet is scheduled to kick-off at 2:30 PM in the Citrus College Aquatics Center.
