Owls Make a Move On Day Two

Valley Glen, CA -- After a somewhat slow start in the team competition on day one of the 2013 Western State Conference Swimming Championships, the Citrus College Women's Swim team made a move on day two. The Owls doubled their point total from day one with a number of strong swims, and positioned themselves nicely for the final day of competition on Saturday.

Citrus started the day off in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, as Lora Marquez-Salgado, Marianna Preciado, Chelsea Fujita-Haffner, and Kirsten Pampu teamed up to post a time of 2:06.84. In the next women's event, Pampu and Bobbie Mitchell picked up some more points for the Owls by taking 11th (2:39.73) and 12th (2:48.01) respectively in the women's 200 Yard Individual Medley.

After that it was Fujita-Haffner's turn as she posted the best finish for an Owl yet, taking 5th in the 50 Yard Butterfly with a time of 27.87 seconds. Following that Gabriela Debia earned more points for Citrus with a 12th place (2:18.06) finish in the 200 Free.

Preciado continued the run for Citrus with a 15th place finish in the 50 Yard Breastroke (37.48), a performance followed by a 10th place finish in the 50 Yard Backstroke by Marquez-Salgado (32.78). The day ended in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay with Debia, Marissa Moreno, Kelsey Droegemueller, and Pampu combining for a time of 9:35.56.

The Owls will close out the three day competition on Saturday morning. The prelims begin at 10:00 AM with the women's 1650 Free.
