Women’s Swim Has Strong Start on Day 1 of WSC Championships

Valley Glen, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Swim team got the 2014 WSC Championships underway on Thursday afternoon. Sophomore's Kirsten Pampu and Chelsea Fujita-Haffner helped pace the Owls on the day as they earned 33 points.

Citrus got things rolling with a 8th place finish in the 200 Free Relay. Pampu and Fujita-Haffner teamed up with freshman Lauren Quintero and sophomore Mackenzie Shinall to post a time of 1:51.79. Citrus' next scoring chance came in the 100 Individual Medley where Pampu grabbed 15th with a time of 1:10.66.

Fujita-Haffner would add more points for the Owls in the 50 Free grabbing 9th place with a time of 26.02. The Owls would close things out on the day in the 400 Yard Medley Relay. Pampu, Fujita-Haffner, along with freshman Kimberly Torres and sophomore Kendra New posted a time of 4:44.49.

Day two will get underway on Friday morning with the preliminaries, with finals being swam in the late afternoon to early evening.
