Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Swim team played host to four other schools from around the Western State Conference on Friday afternoon in the WSC Meet #2 Double-Dual. The Owls fared well, defeating three of the four schools, and losing to the fourth by a single point.

The day kicked off with the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Sophomore Kimberly Torres along with freshmen Miranda Furuto, Natasha Martinez, and Anahit Markosian combined to finish in third place out of seven teams with a time of 2:06.46. Two events later, the Owls picked up some more valuable points in the 200 Free, thanks to a first place finish by Furuto (2:06.97) and a second place finish by freshman Alexandria Romero (2:14.23).

The Owls kept their good vibes going in the 50 Free when freshman Abby Sorensen (27.45) finished in second place, and fellow frosh Danielle DeHerrera (28.47) finished tied for sixth. In the next event, Torres nabbed third in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:39.24. Furuto then went on to win her second event of the day running away with the 100 Fly in a time of 1:05.44. Not to be outdone, Sorensen went out in the very next event and won the 100 Free with a time of 1:00.13.

Torres was the big point getter in the 100 Back, finishing in sixth place with a time of 1:12.95, nearly three seconds faster than her previous best effort this year. Freshman Carly Casillas would pick up some important points in the 500 Free with a time of 6:22.23, six seconds off her previous best mark, and good enough for fifth place.

In the 100 Breast it was Markosian who came through for Citrus, finishing in third place with a time of 1:20.37 shaving three seconds off her PR this season. In the final event of the day, DeHerrera, Sorensen, freshman Katelyn Rivas, and sophomore Christina Tereszczuk teamed up to finish second in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 4:10.12.

The Owls will be back out on the deck this coming Friday when they travel to Bakersfield College for the WSC Meet #3. The meet is set for a 2:30 PM start, and will feature the host Renegades, the Owls, Cuesta College, Los Angeles Valley College, and Santa Monica College.
