Owls Wrap-Up Conference Duals at Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Swim program hit the 5 Freeway on Friday afternoon to participate in the third and final double dual meet of the 2015 Western State Conference season.

The day started off with the 400 Yard Medley Relay. Sophomores Kimberly Torres and Lauren Quintero team up with freshmen Cassidy Miller and Katelyn Rivas to post a second place finish in the event with a time of 4:50.19, just besting third place Bakersfield who posted a time of 4:51.78.

In the second event of the day, freshman Carly Casillas picked up some valuable points with a fourth place finish and a time of 13:00.19 in the 1000 Free. After that it was Quintero who shone for the Owls in the 200 Free with a 5th place finish and a time of 2:19.16. They shortened things up in the next event as Rivas just out touched teammate and fellow frosh Natasha Martinez (8th Place | 29.33) in the 50 Free with a 7th place finish and a time of 29.05.

Two events later, freshman Hailey Bickett posted a strong performance in the200 Fly with a time of 2:57.20. Quintero kept it going in the nevt event finishing in 5th place in the 100 Free with a time of 1:04.42. Casillas trailed that with a 5th place finish in the 200 Back with a time of 2:45.62, while freshman Brenda Vazquez finished third in the 500 Free with a time of 6:24.77.

With two events left, Miller came up with a 4th place (2:47.76) finish in the 200 Breast, just beating teammate and freshman Anahit Markosian (2:48.88). In the last event of the day sophomores Christina Tereszczuk and Katherine Cuevas teamed up with Martinez and Bickett to finish in 5th place in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 4:25.46.

The Owls will be back in the water this coming weekend for their final regular season meet of the 2015 season. Citrus will participate in the Pasadena Invitational Friday and Saturday April 3-4 with events scheduled to run all day.
