Owls Grab First-Place Finishes at WSC #3

Citrus College saw three first-place finishes, along with several other top-10 finishes, at the third Western State Conference swim meet on Friday.

Jullian Nichols took home two wins, taking first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.93 seconds and in the 100-yard free after clocking in at 50.00 seconds.

Andrea Hayler also grabbed first in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:45.26. She also took sixth in the 50-yard free with a time of 28.30 seconds, followed by Delaney Lathum in seventh at 28.54 seconds.

Charly Figueroa took second in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:35.90 and finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:35.38. Genesis Moradel took sixth (2:47.79) and Isabella Scott grabbed eighth (2:57.73).

Lathum grabbed another top-10 finish in the 100-yard free after clocking in at 1:04.69. Isabella Romero followed in ninth with a time of 1:07.09.

As a team, the Citrus women's 400 relay team took third after finishing in 4:58.70. On the men's side, the Owls took sixth with a time of 4:27.79.

Matteo Velasquez and Cristian Duran also posted top-10 times in the 200-yard breaststroke, posting respective times of 2:43.62 (fifth) and 2:50.52 (seventh).

The Owls now focus on the WSC Championships at the end of the month, April 20-22, at LA Valley.
