Owls Finish Strong at WSC Championships

Citrus College competed at the Western State Conference Championships over the weekend and saw several Owls post solid finishes.

The Owl women's 200-yard free relay (Sierra Beltran, Andrea Hayler, Delaney Latham, and Genesis Moradel) took sixth overall with a time of one minute, 49.03 seconds, while the men (Rolan Solis, Gavin Tanner, Matteo Velasquez, and Jullian Nichols) took eighth after posting a time of 1:38.71.

Nichols had multiple top-five finishes, including a runner-up finish in the 100-yard free with a time of 47.87 seconds. He also grabbed fourth in both the 200-yard free (1:47.78) and the 50-yard free (22.29 seconds).

Two Owls finished in the top 10 of the 200-yard breaststroke as Hayler took fourth overall with a time of 2:41.10 and Charly Figueroa followed in seventh after touching the wall in 2:44.40. Hayler also grabbed fourth in the 100-yard breast race, clocking in at 1:12.58, while Figueroa took sixth overall in the 200-yard individual medley (2:31.02).

Latham clocked in at 59.42 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle to take eighth overall and Beltran grabbed a top-10 finish in the 1650-yard freestyle after shaving a minute off her previous best time to finish in 20:57.00 (ninth).

Logan Haberle finished 10th in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:27.67.
