Owls Kick Off New Season

Citrus College got the season underway over the weekend at the Western State Conference Preview, hosted by Ventura College.

The Owl women finished third out of 10 teams with 214 team points, while the men took ninth as a team.

Citrus saw several top-10 finishes, highlighted by Kori Cunningham's fourth-place finish in the 50-yard free and 100-yard free. She clocked in at 26.25 seconds for the 50-yard free, while Andrea Hayler wasn't far behind in eighth with a time of 27.59 seconds.

Cunningham then posted a time of 58.33 seconds in the 100-yard free, while Delaney Latham and Xiana Cabral came in one right after the other in 1:06.28 and 1:06.61, respectively. Cabral also took eighth in the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:16.34.

Sierra Beltran posted a top-10 finish in the 500-yard free, touching the wall in 6:13.62 for eighth place. She also teamed up with Hayler, Latham and Cunningham to take sixth in the 200-yard free relay, posting a team time of 1:55.55. The foursome also took seventh in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:11.84.

On the men's side, Logan Haberle took 16th in the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:07.64, while finishing the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:34.71.

Aiden Herald had two top-20 finishes, taking 18th in both the 50-yard free (27.01) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:21.18).

Citrus gets a week off before its first official WSC event of the year on Feb. 23 at Bakersfield College.
