Hayler Leads Citrus at First WSC Event

Citrus College opened Western State Conference action Friday at the WSC #1, hosted by Bakersfield College, and saw many top-10 finishes.

Andrea Hayler won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of two minutes, 45.32 seconds. She also took first in the 100-yard breast, clocking in at 1:16.00.

Hayler teamed up with Delaney Latham, Hannah Wu and Kori Cunningham to take second in the 200-yard free, finishing just three seconds behind Santa Barbara City College with a time of 1:49.69. The relay team of Sierra Beltran, Wu, Hayler and Cunningham took third in the 200-yard medley, clocking in at 2:06.80.

Latham and Beltran came one right after the other in the 200-yard free, with Latham coming out on top with a time of 2:17.95 to take seventh, while Beltran took eighth in 2:19.61.

Cunningham grabbed third in the 50-yard free, touching the wall in 26.38 seconds, while Wu finished seventh (27.61) and Latham took ninth in 28.65. Cunningham also took second in the 100-yard free with a time of 56.82.

Beltran finished third in the 1650-yard free with a time of 21:31.34.

On the men's side, Brian de Lama posted two top-four finishes, clocking in at 1:11.37 to finish third in the 100-yard breaststroke and grabbing a time of 2:44.63 to take fourth in the 200-yard breast.

Logan Haberle finished fifth in the 100-yard fly (1:09.05), while Adam Herald took seventh in the 200-yard free (2:19.19).

In two weeks, the Owls head to the Riverside City Invite on March 8.
