Owls Find Success at WSC #2

Citrus College found success in its second Western State Conference Meet of the year, hosted by Ventura College.

Andrea Hayler highlighted the event for the Owls, winning the 100-yard breaststroke in one minute, 16.08 seconds and also won the 200-yard breast with a time of 2:44.14, finishing six whole seconds faster than her competition. Hannah Wu took sixth in the 100-yard breast, clocking in at 1:22.10 and finished seventh in the 200-yard breast, touching the wall in 3:00.17.

Kori Cunningham grabbed fourth in both the 50-yard free (26.18 seconds) and the 100-yard free (56.93).

Sierra Beltran finished the 500-yard free in 6:04.87 to take ninth, while Xiana Cabral grabbed sixth in the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:19.13. Bianca Casas wasn't far behind, touching in 1:25.78 for ninth.

Citrus' 400-yard medley relay team of Xiana Cabral, Hayler, Wu and Cunningham took fifth with a time of 4:45.92, while the 400-yard free relay team (Hayler, Beltran, Wu, Cunningham) finished in 4:10.27 to also take fourth place.

On the men's side, Colton Vale grabbed fourth in the 50-yard free (24.19) and took 11th in the 100-yard free (55.15), while Gavin Tanner wasn't far behind in 13th place with a time of 56.75.

Brian de Lama took ninth in the 100-yard breast (1:10.42) and in the 200-yard breast, clocking in at 2:39.67 – almost five full seconds off his previous best time.

Logan Haberle finished 12th in the 100-yard fly after touching the wall in 1:05.28.

The Owl 400-yard medley team of Milton Gutierrez, de Lama, Tanner and Vale) finished eighth in 4:32.67, while the 400-yard free relay team (Jack Wilson, Tanner, de Lama, Vale) took 10th with a time of 3:57.09

Citrus continues conference action on March 29 at LA Valley College, beginning at 11 a.m.
